  • Support communications plans to amplify the voices of communities, government leaders and environmental justice groups in the petrochemical corridor (Texas/Louisiana) working on advocacy and protecting the health of people in communities that have been historically overburdened by pollution.
  • Write content for social media, newsletters, blogs, collateral materials, reports, talking points and other materials as needed.
  • Develop a plan to report on website/social media analytics to inform best practices.
  • Conduct online research to keep EDF’s team informed about petrochemical industry expansion, health impacts and current events related to plastics/industry policy.
  • Monitor traditional and non-traditional media outlets for coverage and opportunities.
  • Assist with basic photo editing, video review and collateral design.
  • Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in/be a recent graduate of a degree-receiving program, or have one year of relevant writing or communications experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental justice.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough experience with social media.
