Internship, Human Resources (REMOTE)
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
This internship will allow students to learn from HR professionals and gain hands-on experience in a variety of day-to-day human resources duties. The intern should be motivated and show a strong desire and interest to learn a variety of areas within the HR function.
LEARNING AND TRAINING OBJECTIVES
In addition to the institution’s educational objectives; the following are the HR learning objectives:
· Gain exposure to internal HR processes that support the employee life cycle at the company:
o Recruitment - with hand-on training in advertising and screening and observing recruitment strategy calls and interviews. Assist with updating the interview guides.
o On/Offboarding – Participate in orientations, training, and exit interviews, conducted by HR staff.
· Gain exposure to the strategic priorities/tactics for compensation planning at the company:
o Participate in the annual review of company job descriptions and update of the job structure and job data.
o Update the organizational chart.
· Gain exposure to HR internal communications and compliance processes at the company:
o Work closely with the VP, HR to update and distribute (as assigned) the annual and pulse employee surveys.
o Update and distribute workplace compliance posters online (26 states).
o Assist with crafting and distributing employee communications, as assigned.
· Gain exposure to a structured, virtual office environment – participating in and being prepared for 1:1’s, team, all-staff, and training meetings; participating in other department trainings/meetings for networking/mentorship opportunities; following both company and HR protocols and policies; and being accountable for the completion of assigned training or project tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be a currently enrolled in a college/university degree or other training program.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
OTHER INFORMATION
· This is an unpaid internship. There is no expectation of compensation or guarantee of employment.
· Duration of the internship depends on the academic requirements or aligned with course studies.
· A background check is required. Interns will sign a confidentiality form for HR.
· The intern will be asked to provide (one or more of the following): a copy of their training objectives plan (on letterhead from a college/university or a professor), the requirements for academic credit, or proof that they are currently enrolled in an academic/higher education program studying a relevant subject (ex. Current semester schedule).
· This position may work from a remote location/telework.
