Universal Music Group 2023 Summer Internship: Digital Strategy: Digital Technology (data/sonic analysis of sound recordings)- CA

How we LEAD:
UMG Digital Strategy has global oversight of digital distribution deals and operates UMG’s Digital Innovation programs. The Digital Strategy tech team creates and maintains the security and technical requirements for digital deals and supports the business development and legal teams during deal negotiations by evaluating deals for conformance with the technical requirements. The tech team also explores new technologies and product concepts from combined business and technical perspectives to prepare the company for technology advances and expand monetization opportunities for our artists. Additionally, the tech team engages with our Digital Innovation programs worldwide.

How you’ll CREATE:
• Security and functionality testing of UMG digital music partners: Penetration testing related to stream ripping and security of cached content, API terms of service compliance audit, UGC policy testing, other testing as needed
• Development project: Content recognition and data/sonic analysis of sound recordings. The intern will do analysis of sound recordings on social media platforms and encryption on streaming platforms.

Bring your VIBE:
• Knowledge of popular music and interest in music business
• Daily experience with a major streaming subscription music service
• Proficiency in programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, nodeJS, Objective-C, Python, Solidity
• Experience related to audio analysis/the physics of audio waveforms
• Computer Science major suggested, but application development experience is a higher priority
• High level of integrity
• Discretion in handling confidential information
• Professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company
• A “can-do” attitude
