
Civil Attorney / Chief Counsel
The Massillon Law Department is currently hiring for the position of full-time Civil Attorney / Chief Counsel.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advises Massillon City departments and personnel on all civil matters, review and creation of contracts, including public bid procedures, labor grievances, tax matters, land disputes, initiation and defending the City in civil litigation, civil service procedures, code enforcement, legislation creation and interpretation, and attending all city council and other public meets as assigned by the Law Director. The primary responsibility of the Chief Counsel is to ensure the effective, timely, and proper handling of each legal matter that the Law Department is consulted on.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have strong analytical skills, honed legal research and writing abilities, disciplined work habits, and the ability to work well with others. J.D. Degree from an accredited law school and must be in good standing with the Ohio Bar and be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position reports directly to the Law Director and will exercise supervision over the part-time civil attorney. Pay range based on qualifications and experience $66,400.00 – $71,947.00 which includes a rich benefit package, including: Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, OPERS Pension, Recreation Center enrollment, Employee Assistance Program, Deferred Compensation, Continuous Education, Vacation, Holiday, Sick Days, Birthday and Anniversary day off and Personal Days.
