Summer 2023 Internship for Student Engagement and Career Development (SECD)

Priority hiring for students who have a Federal Work Study award!

During the 10-week summer internship, interns will work under the supervision of Student Engagement and Career Development (SECD) on multi-disciplinary teams to address challenges and prototype solutions for local community and industry-specific partners. Interns gain highly transferable skills and receive project management support through SECD mentorship and team collaboration. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Required Availability
The internship runs for 10 weeks at 10 hours per week at $13.85/hour. These 10 hours will be a combination of working with your team, a Project Mentor, and individually.

Onboarding Timeline
Applications are open until all positions are filled. Applicants will be invited to an info-session in mid-late May 2023.

This is a 10-week summer internship running from June 5- August 7. All interns must work from Arizona for the duration of the internship.

This PAID opportunity is open to UArizona undergraduate students. First-generation college students, Pell eligible, and students of color are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

What is an internship??
An internship is a short-term work experience that helps students gain exposure and experience in a field of interest, where they often receive guided learning and the opportunity to build skills. Internships may be aligned with an area of study or within an industry a student is wanting to explore. Internships can be paid, unpaid, and/or offered for course credit. If you want to receive credit for your internship, you should coordinate with your academic advisor or internship coordinator in your major.

Did you know that students who participate in internships are about twice as likely to report full-time employment after graduating than students who did not have an internship?
 
In addition, students who held internships or had a combination of work and internship experiences were also more likely to report confidence in their workplace skills than those who did not.

FEDERAL WORK STUDY
FWS is a need-based financial aid award. To be eligible for Work-Study, you must:
  • Be in a degree seeking program as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Meet and maintain financial aid eligibility requirements
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Complete all your UAccess To Do List requirements

Summer enrollment is not required, however if you are not enrolled in summer you must be enrolled at least half time for the subsequent fall semester.
