Corporate Events Intern (Kansas City)

Description
A Corporate Events Intern will work collaboratively with the Burns & McDonnell Events & Programs team to support Burns & McDonnell events and initiatives. This position will provide support and assistance with requests in support of the business strategy.
  • General support for projects and events.
  • Provide event assistance including planning, gathering event supplies, set-up, on-site assistance, and tear-down as needed.
  • Provide data entry for projects and events, including, but not limited to: attendee responses, invitation lists, volunteer t-shirt sizes, etc.
  • Assist with internal event requests to include, but not limited to: room set-up, catering, beverages, security, IT.
  • Assist with printing and organizing event name tags, menu cards, and other event documents as requested.
  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.
  • Assist with responses to general questions.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, communications, hospitality or closely related degree.
  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
