Research Technician B - Dr. Kartik Chandran

The laboratory of Dr. Kartik Chandran (www.chandranlab.org) at Einstein seeks a highly motivated individual for a Research Technician position.

We study how enveloped emerging viruses enter their host cells and initiate infection. Our work is interdisciplinary in nature, involving forward and reverse viral genetics, host genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology, and immunology. Our research spans the gamut from basic to highly translational with strong biotech collaborations. Laboratory members include three research faculty, five postdoctoral fellows, five graduate students, and three research staff. Previous research technicians have gone on to prestigious graduate programs (Harvard Medical School, Yale University, The Scripps Research Institute) and to biotech companies.

The successful candidate will work on projects aimed at understanding how emerging viruses replicate and to develop countermeasures against them. The candidate will be trained and supervised by a senior member of the laboratory. The candidate will spend a portion of their time (about 30%) working with our lab operations team on organization, logistics, and planning. Dr. Chandran will provide overall supervision.
