Graduate Assistant for Student Activities
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Activities and in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student Activities, the Graduate Assistant will assist in the advisement of the Student Activities Council (SAC) at West Chester University to develop a variety of programming for the campus community. This position will be an opportunity to develop essential skills such as oral and written communication, critical thinking and problem-solving, leadership, teamwork and collaboration, professionalism/work ethic, and diversity and inclusion.

DETAILS
- 10-month contract August- May (first day of classes to last day of classes)
- Must be available to plan for and attend staff training in August and January the week before classes ($13/hour compensation offered in addition to stipend for work outside of the 10-month contract).
- 20 hours per week
- Weekday hours will be set based on availability.
- May be asked to "flex schedule" to support evening or weekend events as needed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly advising SAC Event Coordinators to deliver an array of programming.
- Overseeing various campus events planned and implemented by SAC
- Assists the Rams After Hours (late-night programming) series with general support, and at times, serves as an onsite event manager if needed
- Serving on various committees, including but not limited to the Homecoming Planning Committee and the Ramboree Planning Committee
- Assist with the planning and facilitating of student staff training in August and January before classes begin.
- Using creativity and critical thinking skills to create attainable and measurable goals
- Effectively promoting and marketing events.
- Using best practices in assessment to ascertain the success and sustainability of events
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Acceptance into a West Chester University Graduate program (preferably Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (public speaking and presentation skills)
- Willingness to work occasional late night and weekend hours and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and planning skills and experience
- Interest and enthusiasm in working with college students individually and in groups
- Strong leadership and advisory skills
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Technology skills include Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc.), Handshake, Canva, and Qualtrics.
- Co-Curricular/Leadership experience as an undergraduate
