2023 International Veterinary Health Co-Op

The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Animal Health Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

The successful applicant will be a member of the International Veterinary Health team, which comprises of an Executive Director, an Associate Director, a Transboundary Disease Manager, a logistics specialist, and a marketing specialist, based in the US, UK, and Netherlands. During the period of the practicum the student will be involved in team meetings and planning sessions. Working with the team, the student will gain a full understanding of the role of the pharmaceutical industry in improving both human and animal lives.  The student will learn about public-private partnerships and see them in action, as well as gain insights into the political drivers and barriers to disease control. The student will be a part of meetings discussing disease control and how to introduce true solutions to make national vaccination campaigns more effective.

Specific projects may vary, dependent on needs and priorities of the department at the time and taking into account specific interests of the applicant. Previous projects include:

  • Development of disease communication materials
  • Development of technical bulletins for governments
  • Planning of social media programs
  • Planning of awareness campaigns, for instance the Rabies360 Challenge
  • Disease and market analysis
  • Global policy review of specific diseases
  •  Development of a customer management system
  • Logistics support, helping manage deliveries of vaccines
  • The incorporation of technology and data management into health solutions

Required Education & Experience:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program related to veterinary public health or public health.
  • Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of college coursework by May 2023.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Candidates should have an interest in animal health, with a focus on veterinary public health.
  • Candidates must have excellent interpersonal/communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Candidates must have general computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Candidates must have the ability to be organized, adapt to a changing environment, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Candidates must demonstrate high ethical standards.
