  Job Summary:
The Director of Technology is responsible for the stewardship, direction and daily operation of all aspects of Information Technology (IT) in a PreK-8 school district. Essential to the position is the ability to assumes leadership for the direction, coordination, integration and implementation of technology across all school district buildings and departments.

Supervision: 
The Director of Technology supervises and evaluates the Network Administrator, Districtwide Technicians, Building-based Technicians, and Department Secretary.

Job Duties/Essential Functions:
  • Oversees all administrative aspects of technology programs and services in the district, including infrastructure implementation and maintenance, and support of educators and support staff in the use of hardware and equipment;
  • Directs and monitors all aspects of the Technology Department; evaluates the performance of technology department employees and oversees training and support to enhance their contribution to maintaining the district’s infrastructure and network;
  • Authorizes individual access to technology applications or services, thus ensuring proper access to technology systems by staff, students, parents and others consistent with district operating guidelines and regulations;
  • Maintains technology equipment and systems to ensure that systems are functioning efficiently and effectively in support of daily administrative and educational operations;
  • Oversees the delegated responsibility of efficiently troubleshooting problems or issues for critical district applications, which includes managing the work order system;
  • Responds willingly to emergency situations outside of the standard work schedule;
  • Develops and monitors annual information technology and technology operations budget, including the e-Rate program, in cooperation with appropriate stakeholders;
  • Directs and facilitates technology planning, assessment programs, equipment acquisition, and the establishment of standards for hardware and software.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, Education Technology or other related field of technoloyg;
  • Minimum of three years in the management and maintenance of information/education technology systems;
  • Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components;
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in the use of technology in schools;
  • Ability to coordinate, supervise, and direct technology support staff;
  • Strong communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the timely and appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism;.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform duties in compliance with all district, Board, state and federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position;
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate files and records;
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
