Revenue Agent 4 (Lead Worker) Multiple Positions

Position Summary

  • Customer Service (Madison) This position provides support to the Revenue Agent Supervisor, 10 revenue agents and up to 20 seasonal limited-term employees. Duties include training and development of employees and external customers; communication, and implementation of customer service standards; reviewing the most complex activities including researching and responding to inquiries related to individual income tax, sales/use tax, withholding tax, local exposition, premier resort, rental vehicle, and excise tax programs administered by the Department. This position also prepares and updates Taxpayer Assistance and System references online and paper reference manuals and other tools used by staff to assist customers.   • Compliance (Appleton or Green Bay; Eau Claire or Wausau; Madison or Eau Claire; and Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay or Appleton.) These positions provide support to the Revenue Agent Supervisor in a unit of approximately 14 agents. Duties include training and development of staff, acting as the first level for escalated customer contacts, and assisting the unit in the absence of the supervisor. These are advanced level professional positions also responsible for performing and mentoring on the most complex compliance activities. To view job descriptions, click here and here


Salary Information

Starting salary will be between $ 25.32 per hour and $33.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan. This classification is in pay schedule/pay range 07-03. A twelve-month probationary period may be required.


Job Details

The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check on all finalists. Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have:
  • Experience providing customer service by phone, in person, and/or writing
  • Experience working with Wisconsin income, sales/use, and/or withholding taxes: and
  • Mentoring/Training Experience

Well-qualified candidates will also have:
  • Experience with advanced collection actions such as legal garnishments, supplemental hearings, execution of tax warrants
  • Experience collecting statewide debt, income, sales/use and/or withholding taxes
  • Experience researching complex individual income tax topics
  • Experience leading teams or projects
  • Experience approving and/or reviewing work for quality
  • Experience collection delinquent debt
