SharePoint/Data Management and Business Systems Intern

Tacoma Power is looking to hire a SharePoint/Data Management and Business Systems Intern to join our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) workgroup within our Power Shared Services team. This position is open to current college students and recent graduates and offers hands-on experience. This paid internship is an entry-level position.

This is not a normal internship! You will be a crucial member of a small team with important responsibilities and deliverables of your own. In every year of our internship program, interns have graduated to careers with Tacoma Public Utilities. We hope you will leave our internship program with new knowledge. In this role you will work members of the EHS Teams to support establishing and improving SharePoint sites and process automation.

Responsibilities Include
  • Collaborate with EHS staff to develop the main organization SharePoint Site and the Tacoma Power Safety SharePoint Site
  • Support the development of process automation and project management efforts in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Workboard, and/or other software
  • Develop on-line safety and environmental compliance training questionnaire forms 
  • Ensure that all applicable records are available, organized, and not duplicated on the Environmental Compliance on SharePoint Site
  • Assist in the development of Environmental training program materials; including the collection and editing of photos/videos, and the development of internal training presentations
  • Observe and assist staff in various stages on internal communication production, including scheduling, brainstorming, content creation and distribution
  • Support GIS map development; including the integration of soils sampling data into a functional GIS map
The hours for this position is up to 40 hours per week. The term of this position is expected to coincide with the typical summer break for college students.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED*
  • 1 year of post-high school training*
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
