Graphic Design Studio Assistant

Office/Department: Department of Art and Design
Compensation: $12 per hour starting pay ($.50 per hour raises are available for students who do this multiple years)
Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Supervision: The Fine Art Studio Assistant will be supervised by the fine arts faculty of the Art and Design Department, who will train them on their duties and guide their work.

Position Description
The Graphic Design Studio Assistant will assist in maintaining equipment, facilities, and supplies in the graphic design studios of the Art and Design Department. Ideally, the selected student workers would be either a Graphic Design major or have taken a Digital Design class. The student worker will be trained in the proper use of the printers and the necessary settings for different print jobs. Duties will include:
  • Assist students with printing jobs.
  • Ensure printers, paper cutters, laminating machine, and other related equipment are used correctly and not damaged.
  • Keep paper sorted by weight and size.
  • Ensure students clean up paper scraps and put unused paper away.
  • If encountering equipment failures/issues, notify Chris Robaidek and relevant faculty.
  • Maintain inks and maintenance tanks for the Epson and notify Prof. Watters for reordering when necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a Parkside student in good standing who has taken fine art classes in the past.
