Data Analyst Intern - Summer 2023

Job Summary
The Data Analyst Intern will work with our team to support, develop and utilize actuarial models, analyze healthcare cost and utilization data, complete actuarial calculations, and implement software solutions. The summer 2023 internship program will run from May 15 - August 11.

Work Performed
  • Learn products, tools, and services used across HMA branded companies
  • Document and complete assigned tasks within the project timeline
  • Develop technical skills - Excel, SQL, Python, SAS, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Learn technical writing and process development skills
  • Support HMA project teams with their data processing and procurement needs

Education/Training
  • Working towards a Bachelors in Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • GPA – 3.25+

Experience
Intermediate Microsoft Office applications skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. Familiarity with MySQL, Tableau, Project and Visio.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of health care policy and data.
  • Skilled with MySQL, Tableau, Project, and Visio.
  • Understanding of computer languages used within database.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills.

  • Highly organized and able to work under tight deadlines.

Vaccine Requirement

In addition, colleagues may be required to show proof of vaccination to work on specific client engagements if the client requires the same.

Colleagues who will be working on federal contracts will need to provide proof of vaccine prior to their start date. Employment will be contingent upon the employer receiving proof of being fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means receiving two doses of Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
