Event and Marketing Assistant (Internship Eligible)

Professional and Continuing Education is looking for an energetic and organized Event and Marketing Assistant to provide support to staff in the Professional and Continuing Education unit. This position will support the coordination and marketing of noncredit training and events in multiple formats (in-person, hybrid, and online). This position has hours available during the summer as well as during semesters.

MARKETING TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Collaborate with team members to develop copy for training and events, including but not limited to traditional media (print) and digital media (email, social media).
  2. Research and understand target audiences to create the appropriate style, tone, and voice.
  3. Assist with social media interactions to help maintain department presence.
  4. Collaborate with team members to generate promotions for Professional & Continuing Education programming.
  5. Analyze data to measure visits, conversion rate, and behavior, and to help inform marketing strategies.
  6. Participate in the development of marketing plans.

EVENT COORDINATION TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist team members with catering orders and event space booking.
  2. Manage and organize print and/or digital documentation for events and training.
  3. Assist with day-of-setup, including testing of any equipment needed.
  4. Assist with the tear down of events.
  5. Provide email and telephone customer support to registrants as needed.
  6. Other office duties as assigned.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Create effective communications to share with various audiences using print and digital formats.
  2. Research different strategies for digital content to maintain our online presence.
  3. Develop critical thinking skills through analyzing data and experimentation.
  4. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, clients, and partners

QUALIFICATIONS
Strong writing and communication skills; Strong organizational skills; Familiarity with social media & email platforms; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Basic problem-solving skills; Willingness to learn new skills
