Position Summary:
We are seeking an intern to assist with our SELEX teams to support our SOMAmer® reagent discovery pipeline. This internship will provide opportunities to work in an industrial molecular biology laboratory, with a mix of high-throughput work and custom projects. The role is based in a highly collaborative department, and requires excellent organization, communication, and an eagerness to learn. You will be learning and performing various molecular assays that support our SELEX pipeline.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Learn and execute protocols related to our SELEX pipeline and SOMAmer characterization
  • Prepare reagents and buffers for various assays.
  • Assist with the tracking and organization of SOMAmer and protein samples.
  • Help with the conceptual design of custom experiments.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work by communicating with other SELEX teams and manager.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Rising 2nd - 4th year undergraduate with applicable major in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, chemical and biological engineering, Biomedical Engineering
Required Skills:
  • Conceptual understanding of molecular biology techniques. Understanding of nucleic acid-protein interactions is a plus.
  • Some practical lab experience with molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, SDS-PAGE, immunoprecipitation, and sequence data analysis.
  • Organization and attention to detail for experimental and analysis tasks. Experience with Excel is a plus.

Work Environment:
  • Work is in a typical laboratory environment with personal protective equipment use.
  • Some office work is required for data analysis.
  • As Somalogic is a Hazardous Waste Generator, this position performs hazardous waste duties in accordance with internal controlled documents, local, State and Federal regulations
Internship program details:
  • Full time schedule – 40 hours/week M-F
  • 10 week summer assignment starting on June 5th 2023 
  • Company issues laptop & equipment provided for the duration of internship program
