Milacron: Sustainability and Waste Reduction Intern

About this position:
The Southwest Ohio Pollution Prevention (P2) Internship Program is a summer internship program that pairs student interns with companies in Hamilton, Butler, and Clermont counties seeking new and innovative approaches to environmental efficiency and conservation. Currently, we are seeking intern applicants for our 2023 host company in Hamilton County, the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub.

Milacron’s goal is to deliver highly customized equipment, components, and service to their customers throughout the lifecycle of their plastic processing technology systems. Intern Responsibilities:
The intern will be given responsibilities that assist his/her/their learning and experience in implementing pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives including:
·        Attend a two-day pollution prevention training, prior to the start of site-specific project work Communicate the mission and pollution prevention efforts of the CRRH via posts, video, and stories on social media
·        Create and implement a waste reduction plan for Milacron’s North American branches
·        Track waste related metrics and assist with managing an ISO 14001 waste program (ISO 14001 training will be conducted by Milacron)
Qualifications:
·        Must be an undergraduate or graduate student with at least two years of undergraduate education completed
·        Desired majors include: Environmental Health and Safety Majors, Environmental Science and Studies Majors, Environmental Engineering Majors
·        Must have valid driver’s license issued
·        Commit to working full-time for 12 weeks from May until August
·        Provide own housing and transportation
·        Drug screen and background check required
·        Must be able to reach, grasp, handle, bend, kneel, sit, climb, and stoop
·        Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 20 lbs.
Desired Skills:
·        Understanding of and passion for sustainability and waste reduction
·        Project management experience
·        An interest in managing compliance of environmental regulations, policies, and procedures
·        A working knowledge of environmental, health, and sustainability principles
 
A Pollution Prevention Collaboration among Hamilton County, Butler County, and Clermont County Recycling and Solid Waste Districts and Ohio EPA
Compensation and Hours:
·        $17/hr
·        35-40 hrs/week
·        Work will mainly be conducted at the Batavia branch with opportunity to travel to Mt. Orab branch
