Community Career Coach

About the Initiative
Family Enrichment Centers (FEC) are family-centered, physical centers that provide warm, welcoming, non-stigmatizing environments where community members can find support and resources and make connections with neighbors on a voluntary basis. Grahams O.U.R Place (Organizing to be Resilient and United) FEC staff ensure that everything at the Center is responsive to community need through supporting and including family participation in the planning and development process. This tailored approach ensures that the FECs fill gaps in existing neighborhood services and builds community capacity to directly support its families.
Economic Mobility has been identified by the community as a priority, with goals ranging from part-to full-time employment, micro-enterprise initiatives, skills training and post-secondary education.
Position Description
The Career and Employment Coach position at the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) will work collaboratively with the Director, Family Advocate, Community Liaison and Advisory Council to implement an Economic Mobility framework that meets the needs and help to move forward the goals identified by community members. The Coach will provide short and long-term coaching to help community members access employment and economic mobility training and employment resources and will assist community members to either obtain and sustain employment or launch a micro-enterprise.
Tasks:
Identify and work with 50 Community members to co-design Economic Mobility SMART plans that are unique to each of their circumstances and interests, helping them to identify strengths, improve job skills and provide feedback and encouragement on performance.
Provide supportive coaching to each community members pathway to economic success, helping them identify strengths, improve job skills, provide feedback and encouragement on their performance.
Organize and implement two community-wide events per/year, one focused on entrepreneurial ventures and one focused on employment opportunities.
Implement employment search, employment preparedness and job fair on behalf of Hunts Point/Longwood community. (not sure what this means)
Proactively identify new and/or expanded business opportunities and assist in the development and expansion of community partners in and out of the Hunts Point Longwood community.
Be current on all search engine platforms (Google, Yahoo! Bing & YouTube, LinkedIn).
Establish warm hand-off relationships with high quality workforce development & job placement organizations.
Provide information including data as well as anecdotal information to be included in regular reports to the funder and Graham Program Performance and Planning.
Practice:
Uses the Protective Factors framework in the creation and implementation of all offerings.
Uses the Appreciative Inquiry (Dream, Discover, Design and Destiny) lens to effectively coach community individually and/or in small groups.
Use the Fair Futures employment framework to assess progress and track outcomes (training early spring 2022).
Track and analyze employment and micro-grant data.
Provide information including data as well as anecdotal information to be included in regular reports to the funder and Graham Program Performance and Planning.
 
Salary: $44,000-$50,979

Position Requirements
Education Bachelors Degree in human service or business management.
At least 3 years employment and career development.
Advanced time management skills with the ability to meet with community and team.
Exceptional problem-resolution skills including the ability to think creatively in the development of ideas/solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including extremely strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in gaining access to career development, job training and job search opportunities.
Able to satisfy three-year grant contractual requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work well with a team.
