ABOUT STEP
The Skills, Transitions, Exploration and Progress (STEP) Program is a partnership between Kaiser Permanente and Seneca Family of Agencies located in Petaluma, CA. STEP provides intensive, short-term stabilization services to youth, ages 12-17, for an average of 10 days. Our goal is to reintegrate our youth into schools and the community with lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment.
 
YOUR ROLE
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for implementing and evaluating the nursing care delivered within the program, and for utilizing the nursing process to provide assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of resident care within designated clinical areas. Clinicians provide family therapy, facilitate group therapy, provide clinical consultation, conduct risk assessments, and connect youth with long-term treatment resources through Kaiser Permanente and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes assessment data to formulate resident care problems, individualized outcomes, plans, implements and evaluates nursing interventions
  • Provides all care required to be given by a RN on shift assigned
  • Collaborates with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up
  • Collaborates with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care
  • Participates in nursing department, staff meetings and other facility activities
  • Fosters professional development of staff on assigned shift
  • Carries out functions and responsibilities as it pertains to giving orders and conducting evaluations of clients in restraint/seclusion as per Seneca Center Crisis Intervention Policy Section 8
  • Facilitates the Recreational Group for the program
  • Coordinates and facilitates referral and intake process


Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing or
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing with 2+ years of experience in pediatrics or mental health nursing
  • CPR – BLS
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License
  • Good communication, organization and leadership skills
  • Psychiatric Nursing experience preferred


Schedule

  • Full Time (Monday to Friday)
  • 8am-4pm
  • OR Part Time (Thursday and Friday)
  • 8am-4pm
  • No weekends or holidays
