TMAC Internship
The UW-Parkside’s Business Services works to deliver high quality ancillary support in accounting, financial reporting, compliance assurance, purchasing and financial transactional support. One on-campus internship, paid up to $3,500 is available to full-time Business students at UW Parkside for the Fall 2023. The intern will assist with the financial management of the University, including analytic projects involving cash management, financial reporting, and budgeting. The hourly compensation is established at $17.50. The interns, the Director of Business Services and the Financial Manager, will schedule approximately 16 hours per week, during the relevant academic semester.

Qualifications/Requirements:
The successful applicant for the internship will be seniors, majoring in business, preferably with a concentration/major in accounting or finance. Successful applicants will have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, preferably at least 3.5. Course work in Corporate Finance, Investments, Cash Management, and Intermediate Accounting will be particularly beneficial. Applicants should indicate interest in pursuing a professional career in financial management and seeking employment opportunities in the greater Chicago area financial community.
Applicants should have strong demonstrated organizational, communications, computer, and MS Office™ skills, and proven capabilities to work independently or on teams on projects. The Scholarship awards are subject to approval screening and future funding availability from TMAC.
The Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC) provides the scholarships, which support these internships. Interns are provided with one-year, limited TMAC memberships, are strongly encouraged (with hourly compensation) and expected to attend TMAC educational meetings in the Chicago area on or about the third Thursday afternoon and evening of each month during their internship. These educational sessions include speakers on topics of interest in financial and treasury management. The interns are also invited, strongly encouraged, and expected to attend the annual TMAC conference, the Windy City Summit, in Chicago, one Wednesday through Friday in May. At the Summit, the interns will learn at general sessions, will network with TMAC members and sponsors, and will be recognized as TMAC Scholars at the honorary luncheon on Thursday. Interns are provided a free registration to WCS, all meals, and one night at the conference hotel. Applicants are expected to show their appreciation for TMAC’s generous funding of the Scholarship/Internship and commit in their application to attend all TMAC meetings and the Windy City Summit.
Intern scholarships relate to the mission and purpose of the Treasury Management Association of Chicago by promoting careers in financial and treasury management, while providing scholarship support to talented students and participating universities. Other participating universities have included Northern Illinois University, DePaul University, and Illinois State University. Our interns have proudly represented our University for over fifteen years.
Fall 2023 will be the twenty-seventh TMAC Scholar/ Business Services internships at this University. Applicants may contact current and past TMAC Scholars to learn more about the internship and its benefits. Applicants should also review the TMAC website at www.TMAChicago.org and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the mission and purpose of the Association and the dates for its monthly and annual events in their application letters.
Interested students should submit a current one-page resume and cover letter, specific to the above qualifications and interests no later than Sunday, September 10th to Handshake. Applicants also should update their LinkedIn profiles and request to connect prior to application. Please also indicate expected graduation date and attach a list of all Finance and Accounting courses taken, instructors, and grades earned by semester. TMAC will approve applications and Business Services will interview approved applicants on and select the intern in early September.
