Videographer & Equipment Manager

Seeking an experienced student videographer and editor to film in-person public programs (e.g. panels, screenings, exhibition openings, and conferences), and special projects, including oral history interviews. The videographer will edit event and interview footage; create engaging highlight clips for online platforms including social media; ensure all shared media is captioned to meet NYU’s digital accessibility standards; and digitize content from the A/P/A Institute media archive for online streaming and archiving. Media archive analog formats include VHS, beta, cassette, and MiniDV tapes and some work will require the use of the Digital Studio Library. 

The candidate will also manage the A/P/A Institute camera and media equipment by creating and updating an inventory; organizing the videographer office; and ensuring the maintenance of the Institute’s equipment. 

Qualifications

Candidates should have A/V and filmmaking experience. Should have advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere; transferring and rendering digital media and MiniDV tape formats; and be reliable, organized, personable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Some experience using Vidbox and the following equipment is preferred:

  • Sony PXW-Z150

Sound:
  • Zoom H4N
  • Zoom H2N
  • Panasonic wired lav 
  • Sennheiser wireless lav 

Must be able to commit to working 10 hours per week, and must be available to film our public programs on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, March 22, 4:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Monday, April 10, 4:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 4, 4:00-9:00 p.m.

All editing must be done on the premises and during business hours. Our office hours are 10:00 a.m.6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and shifts must be at least three hours long. 

Evaluation:  There will be a mid-semester and end-of-semester evaluation and weekly check-ins with the position supervisor(s).

Pay rate: Undergraduate $17/hr, Graduate Local 2110 $27.50/hr

NYC Pay Transparency Act
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $15-$17 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50-$28 per hour for graduate students. The hourly rate for graduate employees is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.
