Job Summary: The New Nurse Residency Training Program (NNRTP) is designed for newly and soon to be graduated RNs who have graduated on or after October 2021 with an Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing.
Summary of job responsibilities:
  • Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care
  • Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams
  • Carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required
  • Performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision
  • Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications:
  • Less than six (6) months of paid RN experience
  • Graduated on/after October 2021 (no more than 18 months prior to program start date)
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California by March 3rd, 2023 (not required at time of application)
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American heart Association ACLS/PALS/NRP certification within six months of program start date (for designated units)
  • Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in nursing by program start date - April 3rd, 2023
  • Willing to commit to at least two years of full-time employment on the hiring unit after the completion of training
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
