2023 Discovery Immunology Co-Op 2

The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

Our company's Discovery Immunology team is seeking motivated and technically skilled students majoring in the biological sciences or pharmacy for co-op roles. The student should have strong interest in immunology research and learning about immunology drug discovery. Successful candidates will be able to work independently and will also be expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues.

The candidate will work with a scientific mentor to gain direct, hands-on experience in developing omics-based data analysis and/or molecular and cellular-based assays to characterize new therapeutic targets and potential therapeutic molecules. Lab-based techniques learned can include primary and cell line culture, isolation of immune cell subsets, CRISPR, RT qPCR, western blotting, proliferation assays, biochemical assays, and flow cytometry. Proposed projects have the potential to identify new targets and novel pathways for future immunology programs.

Responsibilities of the Immunology discovery intern may include:
  • Design, execution, interpretation and reporting in vitro or omics-based experiments.
  • Assist in developing, executing, and troubleshooting new cell-based assays.
  • Communicate data clearly and concisely to teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor, review, and critically interpret published work to guide your own research.

Required Education and Skills:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA degree in biological sciences or a related discipline and be enrolled in a co-op program through their college or university.
  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to 6 consecutive months beginning in January or February of 2023.
  • Candidates must have a strong desire to develop knowledge of immunology drug discovery.
  • Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including preparation of lab reports and presentations.
  • Candidates should have strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must have experience with basic lab procedures: pipetting, solution preparation, and cell culture.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates must have demonstrated ability to perform accurate data analysis in programs such as GraphPad Prism or Spotfire
