MS&T Intern C


Location: Frederick, MD
We are currently seeking rising undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors working towards a degree in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, chemical engineering or related field for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2023.

Objectives/Goals of the Position:
Preparation of a relevant, naturally-occurring endotoxin and evaluation of process capability for AEX and mixed-mode chromatography endotoxin removal.
Bioburden can be introduced at any time through raw materials or handling of process materials and proliferation can occur under favorable conditions as found in the nutrient rich environment of upstream production. Some bacterial strains are capable of introducing endotoxin. The study is designed to generate a relevant naturally-occurring endotoxin. Subsequently, the study seeks to understand the clearance of endotoxin from monoclonal antibody products through the downstream purification processes.

Primary Duties:
Assist in the completion of the above-mentioned studies including but not limited to: buffer preparation, operating AKTA Avants to run the chromatography process, execution of the study protocol and data analysis

Position Requirements:
  • Rising undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors working towards a degree in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, chemical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0
