Overview

Associate Research Scientists for Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute to work at our Albuquerque, NM location. May work remotely one day per week.
 
Conduct independent and collaborative research related to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of pulmonary disease. Conduct complex experiments. Develop research plans and protocols, including identification of budgetary, personnel, equipment, space and related needs. Conduct research in accordance with protocols, and coordinate work of co-investigators and subordinate staff. Communicate with funding agency/client regarding research. Publish methods and results in peer-reviewed scientific literature, and present at scientific meetings. Manage office, lab, equipment, and information resources. Mentor subordinate staff. Maintain familiarity and develop contacts with current investigators and leaders in field. Develop proposals and applications for external research funding.
 
Develop relationships with management, scientific, and support staff, and knowledge of organizational structure, research, and resources. Support affirmative action, Quality Assurance, animal use, information management, security, environment, safety, and health policies. Participate in discussions, seminars, training programs, committees, and related activities. Continue professional development through relevant courses, seminars, and training opportunities. Obtain membership and participate in relevant professional societies. May require vaccinations/immunizations. May handle toxic/radioactive material. May undergo background checks, including federal background check, and a post offer pre-placement physical exam.


Qualifications

Must have PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Toxicology, or related scientific field and 2 years related scientific research experience, including publication and presentation of original research. Alternatively, must have Masters in Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Toxicology, or related scientific field and 5 years related scientific research experience, including publication and presentation of original research. Required experience can be gained concurrent with academic studies.
 


Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
