Summer 2023 Corporate Internship Program - Human Resources

Job Overview:
 
Macy’s 8-week Summer Internship Program in Corporate Human Resources provides an opportunity to work in, among other things: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Leadership Development and Learning and Development. You will gain an understanding of what it takes to run a company with hundreds of thousands of employees on a day to day basis. Participation in the internship program may lead to an opportunity to work full time with Macy’s in the HR Executive Development Program.
 
This internship takes place in New York, New York and will start in June 2023.
 
Essential Functions:
 
• Receive professional development through a combination of structured, hands-on, and classroom-style learning.
• Build relationships with other corporate interns as well as formal and informal mentorships with those in your department.
• Participate in the development of a broad range of organizational strategies including; succession planning, talent management, executive recruitment, performance coaching, employee engagement, total rewards compensation and benefits) and leadership development.
• Assist on major projects that impact business strategies for the entire organization.
• Help drive company-wide initiatives like identifying top talent and focusing on employee engagement and talent development.
• Participate in performance-oriented teams that encourage collaboration and individual learning.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Rising Juniors, with one year left in an undergraduate program with a 3.0+ GPA preferred from an accredited university. All majors will be considered.
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
 
Mathematical Skills:
 
• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
 
Reasoning Ability:
 
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
 
Physical Demands:
 
• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment. May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Ability to engage with people; strong communication skills; demonstrated leadership skills; professional business ethics; assertiveness; and 
 problems solving skills.
 
Work Hours:
 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department needs.
