Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Internship Program
Overview
The Hegi Family Career Development Center is excited to partner with local non-profit and private companies to host internships for underrepresented students. Interns will work with one organization assisting with various projects depending on their internship assignment. Internship possibilities include marketing, volunteer coordination, development, curriculum development, community engagement, and education.
Internship details
Hegi has worked to secure a variety of internship opportunities with unique deliverables. Rather than applying to a specific internship, students can apply for a DEI Internship and be matched with an employer. Our list of partner employers is below:
- AgoraArtists - Agora Artists Mini-Movement Festival Intern
- City of Dallas, Office of Arts and Culture - Art Collection, Conservation and Placemaking Intern
- Deep Vellum Publishing - Deep Vellum Intern
- Nasher Sculpture Garden - External Affairs Intern
- Pro Players Foundation - Non-profit Intern
- The Artist Outreach - Program Coordinator Intern
Start and end date
While most internships will run for ten weeks (June 5th - August 11th), each internship has a unique start and end date. If selected for an internship, the internship should be your primary responsibility over the summer.
Hours
Internships are between 10 - 20 hours a week. If selected for the program, you will work with your employer to create a schedule that accommodates both your and the employer's schedule. Some internships require weekend and evening hours.
Selection Process
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline of February 15th at 5:00pm, and applications will close on February 28th at 5:00pm. Applications consist of
- Professional resume
- Cover letter sharing your interest in the DEI Internship Program
- Brief questionnaire.
Applications received by the priority deadline of February 15th will be invited to interview with select employers.
The DEI Internship program follows a detailed matching process. To streamline the internship process and best match candidates desired learning outcomes to community partner needs, the Hegi Family Career Development Center will match interns with the position of best fit based on the desired learning outcomes and goals of the applicant and the needs of the employer. Upon a successful match, students will sign an offer letter provided by the Hegi Family Career Development Center. Employers will receive the intern's resume, cover letter, and pre-reflection indicating the intern's goals and desired outcomes from the internship experience.
