Digital Youth Engagement Program Coordinator
The Digital Youth Engagement Program Coordinator will directly supervise and mentor 5-10 youth participants (ages 15-18 years old), provide digital skills training in video, audio, and media production, and guide youth in researching, producing, capturing, and editing projects affiliated to the National Parks of Boston. In addition to supporting youth training and learning in digital media, the Digital Youth Engagement Program Coordinator will also contribute to updating and maintaining park websites and partner affiliated portals with current program information and sharing youth work to the public including displays at park visitor centers.
- Provide, developmentally appropriate instruction and training in digital skills for youth to successfully engage in park and partner digital media projects and activities. Project products examples include now and then photography using historic photographs, audio visual poetry, mixed-media use collage art, and historical documentary videos. (45% of time)
- Develop, implement, and evaluate digital story-telling youth engagement, employment and development program curriculum and learning projects. (20% of time)
- Collaborate and communicate with National Parks of Boston staff (visual information specialists and training specialists) and park partners to guide, mentor and lead youth participants in digital engagement activities. (10% of time)
- Assist and support content maintenance and development of park websites and social media sites. Uses established policy, protocols and best practices for social media and website development and maintenance. Use emerging technology to communicate with the public, using products such as, virtual web-based activities, podcasts, video production and apps to meet an agency's mission. (10% of time)
- Use and follow NPS graphic standards and ensuring accessibility of all park media products to write/edit interpretive media products, including newsletters, educational resources, webpages, and other print and digital media products to connect messaging with intended audience. (10% of time)
- Provide video, audio and photo support for National Parks of Boston and partner initiatives. (5% of time)
The Digital Youth Engagement Coordinator will also work and communicate with a Hispanic Access Program Manager throughout their position. The Digital Youth Engagement Coordinator will be expected to participate in scheduled conference calls, webinars, and meetings conducted throughout their term. The Digital Youth Engagement Coordinator will capture photos and/or videos for reporting purposes and submit three blog posts highlighting their experience and development.
