LTOCE - Lab Consultant

Lab Consultant
The lab consultant will provide on-site supervision and support for students in the on-campus 24 Hour computer labs located at the Student Center.

Expectations:

  • Answer student questions related to the Windows operating system, commonly used software such as Microsoft Office, campus IT services such as Moodle, E-mail, BOSS, 3D printing and paper printing.
  • Maintain printers with toner, paper and filament.
  • Monitor technology in both computer labs and report problems to the Help Desk.
  • Monitor the patrons and provide assistance where needed and enforce rules in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Field after hours (5pm - 7am) help desk calls.
  • Maintain both labs in a sanitary and safe environment.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds.

Experience is not required; however, deep understanding of computer software is helpful. Lab consultants are expected to be able to work at least one late night shift (11 am – 3 am or 3 am to 7 am) or weekend shift each week.

Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for student employment. Half time enrollment is defined as 4 hours for undergraduates or 3 hours for graduates. Students who drop below half-time will no longer be eligible for student employment and must cease working.

Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and a 3.0 for graduates during their employment. First time freshmen must have an ACT Composite score of 20 or higher at time of employment.

Students may work a maximum of 20 hours a work week, and are not allowed to work during scheduled class times.

Student workers will be allowed to hold only one job at a time during an academic year (ex: FWS, Graduate Assistantship, Regular Funds)

New student workers must have valid identification documents (non-expired passport or driver’s license and social security card)
International students must have a current passport, I-94, and social security card.
