Summer Camp Golf Counselor

Each athletic counselor is hired to teach a specific sport based on his or her experience and qualifications. Most have played at the high school and/or college level and many have previous coaching experience. Coaches will help the boys learn the basics of a specific sport. Our top-notch facilities include our Tak-a-Hole, a par 3 pitch and putt where campers can work on the all important short game! We also have a nine-hole putting green and golf cages for practicing technique. And we are so fortunate that, right in the town of Naples, we have access to two 18-hole courses, the Naples Golf Course and Point Sebago, one of the premier courses in the state of Maine. We regularly go to each of these courses with all age groups so campers have an opportunity to play a real round of golf. 

*Golf counselor should be a camp driver (over 21, with a license and must pass our camp driving test)* 

Above all else, our goal is to help boys grow into young men of strong moral character. We believe that boys need structure. Our programs are designed to be developmentally age appropriate. As boys get older, their program allows them increased choices so they can pursue their maturing interests and specialize in specific areas. We believe in a well-rounded, diverse program that includes sports, waterfront activities, hobbies, skills, and pioneering. We believe that athletics is an important component of a well-rounded experience, but it is not the sole focus our program, especially at the younger ages. We want our campers to gain exposure to a wide range of activities so there are many avenues through which a boy can find his niche at Camp Takajo.

 

Camp Takajo is situated in southern Maine, in the town of Naples, on Long Lake. Takajo is 35 miles from the Maine coastline with its many fine towns and beaches and the same distance from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The surrounding countryside is characterized by beautiful lakes and evergreen forests.
