Engineering Process Technician

Tesla’s cell manufacturing engineering group is looking for a highly motivated Process Engineering Technician to accelerate our next-generation battery cell manufacturing program. This role will support the process development of specialized battery electrode calendaring, lamination, and slitting equipment.
In this position, the Process Engineering Technician will work closely with manufacturing engineers and the production team to realize high quality, efficient and reliable equipment and processes. Apply their technical skill to have innovative solutions for the process and quality improvement, problem-solving to achieve high yield, downtime reduction, and production ramp-up. This is a hands-on position working with equipment and data.

Responsibilities:
• Participate in equipment commission, qualification, and verification for the new manufacturing line
• Support development and refinement of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications
• Identify problems and potential solutions to troubleshoot issues as they arise during engineering builds
• Involve in problem-solves related to web handling process development and roll out changes to production
• Interact daily with Manufacturing Engineers to communicate results and receive tasks
• Work with OEMs on equipment development projects
• Measure and record data, conduct data analysis using defined tools and software
• Perform yield analysis and develop defect Pareto for continuous process improvements.
• Perform equipment checks defined in SAT protocol and provide input to machine development
• Perform process and equipment validation to ensure required performance is met
• Provide hands-on support to maintenance issues to maximize cycle time and uptime
• Assist with Manufacturing Instruction development

Requirements:
• Experience in roll to roll, lamination, powder handling production environment
• Experience with operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
• Familiarity with mechanical-electrical/mechatronic systems
• Able to converse technically with engineers
• Aptitude for learning new systems quickly
• Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision toward a stated goal
• Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
• Experience working in a factory environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills; well-organized with meticulous attention to detail
• Able to interpret engineering drawings; experience with or exposure to 3D and 2D CAD is a plus
• Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
• Experience with JMP or Minitab data analysis tools
