The Oracle Cloud Hardware Team:                                              
Oracle Cloud Hardware Team provides a family of tools, utilities, and connectors to manage, monitor and configure Oracle's SPARC & x86 servers used in Oracle Cloud. All of these systems contain an Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager service processor which provides in-band and out-of-band interfaces for these tasks. The key components and tools for management and monitoring tasks are Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM), Oracle Hardware Management Pack (HMP) as well as proprietary security hardware/firmware.

Join our dynamic team as a Security Engineer Intern and work on exciting, enterprise-grade system management products with a focus on deployment in Oracle Cloud. Our unique team works on everything from low-level hardware interfaces to network facing API service interfaces -- and everything in between. We control the full life-cycle of the software from architecture to release. Job Summary:
The Oracle Cloud Hardware team is looking for great talent to help guide and execute our software security vision. As a Security Engineer Intern you will focus on identifying and solving systemic problems, collaborating with our engineering teams, establishing best practices for our security program, and promoting good security practices throughout the Oracle Single System Management Team. The ideal candidate loves both building and breaking software. This is a job where details matter, and there are a lot of details, including all of network security, cloud security and software security. You must be able to tell the difference between a big problem, a minor weakness, and a false positive. You must help developers understand security concepts and security practices. You need to be friendly but uncompromising when it comes to getting security right.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with software engineers to make our software better
  • Conduct internal security design and code reviews
  • Conduct product and feature level threat analysis
  • Conduct product and feature level Penetration Tests for use in CI/CD and standalone environments
  • Collaborate with Oracle's world class Ethical Hacking Team
  • Collaborate with Oracle's world class Hardware Security Team
  • Collaborate with product security management on program direction, team growth, and on addressing systemic security issues
  • Identify areas where our programs can be improved (especially through automation), and where possible implement those improvements
  • Identify, reproduce, and report security issues
  • Collaborate with internal security compliance teams to identify and understand vulnerabilities related to compliance obligations

What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):
To be considered for a Security Engineer Intern position in the Corporate Architecture organization, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.
  • Will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field during the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Have completed at least your sophomore year toward your undergraduate degree, or higher, by summer 2023.
  • Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience). 
  • Are proficient (i.e., able to complete coding projects with no assistance) in at least one of the following programming languages:
  • C, C++, Java, Python, Bash, Linux Programming
  • Are proficient (i.e., able to complete coding projects with no assistance) in at least one of the following testing tools:
  • Burp, Fortify, Nessus, Qualys, or other related testing tool
  • Have completed coursework, projects, internships, and or research in two or more of the following:
  • Computer Systems / Embedded Systems / X86 Architecture / Operating Systems
  • Cloud Architecture/Cloud Security
  • Agile development
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Information Security/Network Security/Cybersecurity
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Attend a university in the US.
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2023.
