The Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs the professional accounting duties related to revolving fund and employee travel.

*Reviews, audits, and approves more complex travel claims for payment via the California
Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS) Global ensuring they comply
with departmental travel polices, the State Administrative Manual (SAM), the California
Department of Human Resources (CalHR), the State Controller's Office (SCO), and current
Memorandums of Understanding (MOU). *Enters and reconciles expenditure account
information before releasing travel claims from CalATERS to Fl$Cal. *Identifies, corrects, and
reconciles various erroneous vouchers and journal entries in Fl$Cal related to travel
transactions. *Trains new staff on various workloads. *Acts as CalATERS support lead over
lower classifications and conducts annual quality review on processed travel claims to identify
potential training issues.

*Records and replenishes Office Revolving Fund (ORF) advances in Fl$Cal to ensure
compliance with Fl$Cal Job Aids. *Identifies and corrects various erroneous vouchers and
journal entries in Fl$Cal related to ORF transactions.

*Audit and process travel claims submitted via the manual Travel Expense Claim (STD. 262) in
Fl$Cal. *Calculate taxes and prepares SCO tax withholding forms. *Maintains documentation
files for replenishment through Fl$Cal.

*Performs CalATERS Help Desk duties. *Will have continuous contact with departmental staff
and SCO to answer travel questions and conduct training classes. *Responds to inquiries from
employees regarding travel policy by interpreting and effectively communicating the rules and
policies. *Assists all staff on any travel issues.
