Technical Intern: Optics Customer Success

The Synopsys Optical Solutions Group (OSG) has an opening for a Technical Intern position in the Customer Success team, supporting either CODE V, LightTools, LucidShape, or RSoft Photonic Device Tools. Optical Solutions tools use state-of-the-art optical algorithms for the layout, design and analysis of image forming and illumination systems, respectively.

The Synopsys intern program emphasizes integrating our interns, allowing you to work with mentors and colleagues on your team. Your contributions will be invaluable to the company and products, guaranteeing you a fulfilling internship that you can bring back to your courses
This internship is full time (40 hours/week) and lasts for 3 months. You can start as early as May 2023.

What you’ll learn and do:
The successful candidate will be responsible for working on material to benefit customers designing optical systems with CODE V, LightTools, LucidShape, or RSoft Photonic Device Tools by:
  • Authoring training tutorials
  • Developing technical example
  • Updating support materials and libraries

You will have opportunities to:
  • Learn about a wide variety of modern optical applications
  • Build your skills with professional software used by optical engineers around the world
  • Build your technical communication skills
  • Interact with professionals across many different teams and backgrounds, including: Technical Support, Marketing, Sales, Software Development, Optical Engineering

Skill Requirements:
  • 1+ semesters of optical systems modeling, analysis, and design experience using commercial design tools in an academic or professional environment
  • 1+ semesters experience with CODE V, LightTools, LucidShape, or RSoft Photonic Device Tools
  • Proficient understanding of optical sciences
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to others inside and outside the company
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects and ability to work with a team as well as autonomously
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree in Optics, Optical Sciences, or other related technical discipline
  • Excellent references

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
  • CODE V Macro+ writing
  • LightTools COM macro writing
  • MATLAB or Python
  • Video production
  • Microsoft COM Programming
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Other procedural or object-oriented languages
