Greenville Metals, a group within PCC's Special Metals Group, is a unique metallurgical resource with the ability to partner strategically with customers. We provide technology-based solutions and services to companies around the globe which require air melt grade master alloys and conversion products. Greenville Metals produces metallurgical products using many techniques including electric arc furnace, AOD, induction furnaces, and various crushing, grinding, and sizing equipment. We use nickel, cobalt, and iron-based (particularly stainless steel) alloys to produce products such as ingots, pigs, shot, and powder.

Engineering Co-op Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op will complete drafting projects in AutoCAD, perform field investigations, and review equipment in process, as well as assist with various other engineering projects.
Essential Functions
·      Adheres to plant and department safety rules, safely operate all equipment and tools, identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and product design.
  • Responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility in process and /or product engineering throughout his/her co-op experience.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects.
  • Attend regular departmental meeting.
  • Attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Perform or review systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
  • Participate on project teams for assigned projects.
  • Analyze improvements and new product or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team.
  • Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Systems Engineering.
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
 
Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Good working knowledge of all MS Office applications and internet applications.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, be willing to learn and have a desire to succeed.
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision and use own initiative.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization, including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work effectively.
