Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Intern

This summer internship will offer graduate students an outstanding opportunity to gain hands on experience within the pharmaceutical industry. This program allows students to work closely with business leaders while acquiring industry insight. Interns will be tasked with both individual and group projects. The Sunovion Internship Program will offer additional workshops and seminars for your career and professional development. We are seeking dedicated individuals within multiple areas across the organization.

Specific Internship Description:
The HEOR intern will have an opportunity to work on HEOR strategy and tactics for a psychiatry launch asset of the organization. The internship will be crafted with the business need and candidate interest in mind but could include any of the following:
  • Conduct targeted and systematic literature review to identify an unmet research needs
  • Own the evidence generation activities cross functionally. The evidence generation activity might include working on cost effectiveness model, post hoc analyses of clinical trial data or conducting retrospective studies.
  • Develop scientific communication material. This might entail not only helping in scientific communication material from ongoing projects, but also an opportunity to develop a poster and/or peer reviewed manuscript from intern led project.
  • Learn to shepherd field medical value communication tools through promotional and medical review.

Learning Goals:
  • Gain insights into functioning of a HEOR department at mid-size pharmaceutical organization
  • Understand the role of HEOR evidence and its role in demonstrating value of pharmaceutical products to external partners
  • Gain understanding of working in a cross functional, matrixed, and partnered organization
  • Develop soft skills like communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Develop time management, project management skills and the ability to be responsible for multiple priorities
  • Gain insight into internal process and policies
  • Develop understanding of HEOR evidence needs at various stages of product life cycle
  • Learn how HEOR evidence is used by and helps other cross functional colleagues within organization.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Enrolled in Postgraduate/PhD degree program in HEOR, Health services research, Epidemiology, Economics
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong communication skills and passion for continued development
  • Covid-19 Vaccinations are required

Program Details:
  • Position will begin on Monday June 5, 2023
  • Position is located remotely in the US
  • Position is full-time Monday through Friday – up to 40 hours per week
  • Candidates should be available to commit to 10 weeks
