Summer Internship in Cardiovascular Research

Purpose:
To provide a learning opportunity for undergraduate students interested in biomedical science. The internship will provide real-world experience with scientists engaged in a research-intensive environment.

Description:
The Center for Cardiometabolic Science at the University of Louisville offers an American Heart Association sponsored summer internship for undergraduate students in STEM. Selected candidates will gain experience working in a faculty-led biomedical research laboratory. Interns will gain practical knowledge of the scientific method, experimental design and execution, data analysis, and presentation. The research led by 14 faculty in the Center focuses on cardiovascular disease and involves various disciplines, including physiology, metabolism, immunology, and pathology. Laboratories in the Center have state-of-the-art instrumentation to support their scientific pursuits.

Program details:
Each intern will work with faculty-led teams in the Center during the summer (May 30th to August 14th). In addition to exposure to cutting-edge biomedical research, interns will receive hourly compensation ($15/hr; ~40 hr/week). Priority will be given to students considering careers in biomedical research. Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
