Satellite Flight Software Engineer

Summary:
Here at the Space Dynamics Laboratory we design and build satellites. Specifically, we write flight software for these satellites. It's detail-oriented, fairly intense, and super fulfilling. We are looking for software engineers at the mid and senior levels. Any software experience related to satellite development is helpful. If you've got the skills, join our flight software team!

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of C++
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Hardware knowledge/interfacing
  • Desire to do it right and document it
  • Willing to make a project succeed from inception, to creation, test, launch, and re-entry
  • Willing to learn and assist others on the team
  • Strong design skills
  • Able to find and fix bugs
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications (i.e., Things that get you extra credit):
  • Git/Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence (or similar)
  • Fantastic communication skills -- able to convey your point concisely
  • Excellent skill presenting to customers
  • CMake
  • Software effort estimation skills
  • Network knowledge
  • BSP experience
  • VirtualBox/WSL2/Docker
  • Software security skills
  • Shell scripting skills
  • Environmental testing/AI&T experience
  • Python

Background experience that may enhance your application:
  • SpaceWire/Serial(232,422)/Ethernet/CCSDS
  • GNC/ADCS/radio/propulsion/GPS/orbital knowledge
  • Including the word banana in your cover letter           
  • Unafraid to touch hardware in the lab
  • RF and encryption experience
  • Ground station experience
  • DevSecOps
  • FPGA skills
  • Jenkins
