Cell Culture Scientist

DESCRIPTION
We are looking for creative, driven scientists to join us full-time at Edge. You’ll have the chance to help solve some of the biggest problems facing the cultivated meat industry. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the c-suite team to tailor company deliverables.
  • Develop and work with a team to generate written content within a given timeline.
  • Communicate effectively the status of multiple on-going projects.
  • Design experiments to improve culture efficiency and yield in bench scale bioreactors
  • Design, implement, and optimize upstream cell culture processes for mammalian species
  • Isolate culture, and manage the long term culture of primary mammalian cells
  • Utilize food-grade equipment and consumables to culture cell-laden biomaterials
  • Maintain detailed reports in an electronic lab notebook
  • Attend weekly meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/MS/PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related field. Ideally with experimental lab experience in Molecular Biology, Tissue Engineering, or Protein Engineering.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture (thawing, feeding, passaging, banking cells, cell revival, and culture maintenance)
  • Knowledge or experience with bioreactors is a plus*
  • Experience with stem cells & microcarrier cultures is a plus*
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work and thrive in a startup environment with shifting priorities
  • A team player with humility and a sense of humor
  • Excitement about the emerging field of cultivated meat and interest in learning more!

PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
You must be eligible to work in the United States. You must be able to commute to NYU BioLabs @ Langone. You will be offered a benefits package, stock options, and a salary ranging from $65K-$100K.
