ITA Oneida Student Success Outreach Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Success Outreach Specialist is the primary ITA liaison with students, families, schools, tribal governance, and the Oneida community. As the primary contact for students in the program, this individual serves as a resource for students and families and tracks student progress in their high school and in the ITA program and helps guide students to become competitive college applicants.

The Student Success Outreach Specialist corresponds with students, programs, families, schools, and the community at large. This correspondence and support will be both in-person and via electronic means (email, messaging used within the online learning platform supported by UW Madison, and occasional posting on social media platforms).

This position requires a flexible schedule with job responsibilities taking place outside the standard work week as well as occasional evening and weekend hours.

The Student Success Outreach Specialist will frequently travel between local high schools in the Oneida community and will have to occasional travel to Madison.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivers and assists with planning pre-college program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote a stable and productive relationship between the university and community. May assist with tracking and managing a pre-college program budget.
  • 10% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the pre-college program
  • 10% Schedules, secures, and communicates logistics and resources in support of a pre-college program
  • 5% Delivers pre-college program content and materials to community members
  • 5% Researches, develops, and facilitates pre-college program content and materials
  • 5% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 40% Serves as a main point of contact to students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements
  • 5% Provides support in identifying appropriate fields of study, career options, or programs and refers students to appropriate resources
  • 20% Maintains detailed records of student progress and other needed data.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with traditionally underrepresented and marginalized communities
- Experience working with tribal communities
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple activities simultaneously
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team

It is expected that the candidate will have a working knowledge of Native American / American
Indian culture. A person with strong connections within the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin community
is preferred.

Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

WORK TYPE:
Full Time: 100%

Hybrid: The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer.

APPOINTMENT TYPE, DURATION:
Ongoing/Renewable

SALARY:
Minimum $48,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
