College Graduate - Chemistry or Materials Science
Adranos is seeking a Chemist/Materials Scientist to support its rocket fuel research, development, and production efforts. This position will support R&D activities in materials processing and characterization for advanced coatings and thin-film fabrication.
Adranos is a company focused on energetic materials innovation, including the development of ALITEC, the highest-performing solid rocket fuel in the world. ALITEC dramatically increases the range and payload capacity of various launch systems, including missiles, hypersonics, space launch platforms, and various other systems utilizing solid propellant.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments and produce thin-film coating materials using air-free, air-sensitive, wet-chemical and sol-gel chemical techniques
- Conduct experiments and produce thin-film coating materials using CVD, PVD, DLC, ALD, and/or other similar methods
- Obtain and analyze thin-film data using a variety of characterization techniques such as profilometry, microscopy, spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and/or other methods
- Document findings and implemented solutions. May be required to make brief technical presentations
- Promote a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices
- Contribute to project milestone completion and provide solutions to problems of limited complexity using standard techniques and methodologies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical, materials science, or related fields
- At least 3 months of educational or industry experience in a lab setting
- Fundamental knowledge of material and surface properties
- The company must comply with US export laws and regulations, which requires the candidate to be a US Citizen or a green card holder

· Experience with simple organic synthesis
· Experience with thin-film deposition methods
· Familiarity with safe handling of metal powders
