Environmental Health & Safety Professional

Trinity Industries is searching for a talented key member to fill the role of Environmental Health and Safety Professional based in Fort Worth, TX with 75% travel to field sites. 
 
This is a professional level EHS position that supports the Mobile Repair Unit (MRU). This position will be based in Fort Worth, TX with 75% travel. In this role the ideal candidate will work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure proper deployment and oversight of Trinity’s EHS management system at rail car mobile repair locations.

What you will do:
  • Implement and monitoring of established safety/environmental programs for compliance to company and government regulations
  • Document, recommend and monitor corrective actions to ensure adherence to safety programs
  • Provide daily/weekly training for new hire orientation as well as other safety training for plant personnel
  • Provide training to enable effective operation of the established safety systems
  • Initiate, document and monitor corrective actions to adherence to safety programs
  • Work with employees to resolve safety issues and techniques
  • Build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  • Solve day-to-day problems by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures
  • Gather information and generate required and/or requested reports
  • Lead small projects and/or projects with minimal complexity
  • Use judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Will serve as resource for other departments as needed
  • Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc., as they apply to the safety program
  • Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near-misses
  • Help prepare site safety plans for remote projects
  • Assist with project preparation and support projects at customer locations
  • Ability to travel to project locations on a regular basis
  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
What you will need:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or similar field preferred, or combination of education and practical work experience and training which results in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Bilingual (Written/Verbal Spanish) preferred
  • Computer literacy with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
  • First Aid/Responder or EMT certification preferred 
  • Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees throughout the plant
  • Ability to train others effectively on various safety topics
  • Ability to commit and attend outside training as indicated by management to increase knowledge of state and federal regulations relative to employee safety, health and environmental practices
