Application Deadline: April 15, 2023 (rolling admissions-currently reviewing applications and offering acceptances)

Positions Open In: Early Childhood and Elementary Education

Learn to Teach by Teaching
The Brookwood School Teacher Residency Program is a one-year accelerated master's degree program offered in collaboration with Lesley University. In a single year, our Teaching Apprentices earn a Master of Education degree through Lesley University, and Massachusetts initial teaching licensure in either Early Childhood (PreK - Gr 2) or Elementary (Gr 1 - 6) Education. Graduate courses are offered at both Brookwood School and Lesley University.

Participants learn to teach by teaching, growing skills in planning, best practices, curriculum and classroom management over the course of the year. Each TA has two different classroom placements, getting experience at two grade levels and working with students at different stages of the developmental continuum. Extensive guidance and support are provided by mentor teachers and the Director of Teacher Residency. Our program puts educational philosophy and pedagogy learned in graduate courses into direct daily practice. TAs observe, teach whole and small group lessons, work with students one-on-one, attend faculty meetings, participate in professional development, take part in parent conferences, and join a vibrant learning community. Aspiring teachers leave with excellent training and deep experience, ready to take on the challenges of leading their own classrooms.

Application Process:
Begin the process with a phone call or email to Jen Cunningham Butler to arrange an interview and campus visit. Then follow these steps.

Additional Salary Information: This is an unpaid internship The tuition for earning your Master of Education degree and Initial Licensure is significantly less than that of a traditional masters program. Additional stipends, scholarships, and housing opportunities are available.
