Career Assistant -Spring 2023

The job title for student employees in Career Services & Student Employment is "Career Assistant". Career Assistants help to expand delivery of the office's services. Career Assistants will be extensively trained on all duties and responsibilities listed below. This role may be slightly modified, as needed, to meet the needs of Career Services & Student Employment and students. This position is expected to be in-person. Remote work is not anticipated. General Responsibilities:
  • Staff front desk and Career Lab, while providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with students on career related topics (resumes, cover letters, mock interviews)
  • Assist with organizing and filing paperwork
  • Provide support for programming and events such as Career Fairs and Etiquette Lunch 
  • Create social media posts for the office’s Instagram and Twitter accounts
  • Compete data entry and research projects
  • Provide support in administrative student employment tasks
  • Manage job board postings and assist with general Handshake questions
  • Coordinate campus mailing to payroll and supervisors
  • Promote services at informational tables
  • Participate in regular weekly meetings
  • Assist with additional Career Services responsibilities as needed
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0 for undergraduate students
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 for graduate students
  • Undergraduate student (all levels) or graduate student at UA
  • Ability to commit to working more than one semester as a Student Assistant
  • Open to all majors
  • Experience (or desire to gain experience) working with students of diverse educational, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong initiative to seek out projects and follow through on projects
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and organization skills
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office
