Description & Responsibilities
The Associate, Federal Financial Regulation role supports policy and regulatory research and advocacy to influence regulators on adopting Ceres’ systemic climate risk recommendations. Target federal regulators include the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Reserve, and other federal banking and housing finance regulators. This position reports to the Director, Financial Regulation. Ceres Accelerator program focuses on impacting sustainability in Capital Markets to address climate changes more efficiently. This role is a full-time position that is remote or may be based in Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA. Candidate must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones. 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
●     Support implementation of the Financial Regulators Strategy, including work planning, output delivery and progress evaluations, coordinating with teams across Ceres
●     Support preparations of regulatory submissions and Ceres’ response to requests for public comment on priority regulations
●     Provide support on document production, research inputs, peer reviews, submission, and follow up with regulators
●     Support the development of new policy and legal research and analysis to support policy and regulatory recommendations
●     Track key policy and regulatory developments related to the role of federal and state financial regulators and policy makers.
●     Stay abreast of policy issues on the federal level related to climate change and energy with a special focus on financial regulatory issues 
●     Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with external partners and key allies, such as non-profits, trade associations, think tanks, communications firms, and lobbyists
●     Support Congressional engagement on climate financial regulation including responding to Congressional information requests and supporting Ceres testimony in hearings and briefings working in partnership with Ceres’ Policy Team
●     Support the management of consultants and research contracts to deliver written materials
●     Support the development of communications materials, including op-eds, press releases and blogs in coordination with the Communications Team.
●     Support the production of funding proposals, providing support for funder meetings and outreach to potential new funders
●     Assist with planning for the Ceres annual conference and program events
●     Represent Ceres at meetings as spokesperson for project or program work 
●     Travel as necessary
 
Qualifications
●     Minimum of 18 months, full-time, professional experience demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and project management abilities
●     Experience in financial regulation or policy, preferred
●     Experience working on projects aimed at influencing government policy or regulation or corporate policy, preferred
●     Knowledge of climate and energy policies and corporate sustainability issues
●     Outstanding organizational and administrative skills
●     Demonstrated initiative and motivation, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
●     Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize projects with a proven track record of successfully completing projects on time
●     Sound judgment and high level of integrity and professionalism, with an ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion, diplomacy, and courtesy in all contacts
●     Strong organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail
●     Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
●     Demonstrate excellent research and problem-solving skills
●     Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
●     Willingness to travel as needed
●     Desire to work in a not-for-profit, advocacy-focused organization 
●     Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), other database applications, teleconference and webinar systems and standard e-mail computer applications
●     Interest and willingness to be trained on specific Ceres’ applications necessary for success: Salesforce, Bloomberg, and others

Compensation: The hiring salary is $49,000 to $50,500 and pairs with competitive benefits.
