Technology and Innovation Internship

The Technology and Innovation Internship program is seeking motivated students who have an
interest in how technology and innovation effects and enhances the links between business,
government, and society (BGS). Interns will be involved in initiatives which touch on the topics of
artificial intelligence, robotics, plant-based protein, innovative agriculture, and internet data
architecture, as well as the Washington Institute Global Sports Conference, the first-ever
engagement of its kind, in which technology, analytics, and e-sports will factor prominently.

Responsibilities:

As part of the Technology and Innovation team, interns will have the opportunity to work with
global partners who are subject matter experts in the areas mentioned above and are exploring
how BGS is utilizing and reacting with the developments in those areas. These partners include
members of the global academic community, technology companies and non-profits. Interns will
have the opportunity to participate in the Institute’s technology series and raise the visibility of the
organization in the global business community, on Capitol Hill, and within the ecosystem of
research institutions and think tanks throughout the Greater Washington region.

The Washington Institute is a results-driven organization and therefore the goal is always to achieve
results that can be applied by concerned parties, which requires innovative approaches to
identifying partners, and creating frameworks for them to work together. In addition, the
incumbent will receive a firsthand look at the most pressing cutting-edge issues impacting the
sectors of business, government, and society, which will generate considerable insight for the
incumbent’s future research in his or her academic or professional career.

Qualifications:

• Prospective interns will be current university students (at the undergraduate or graduate
level) or recent graduates
• Proven track record of engaging in entrepreneurship initiatives, having been a member of a
start-up, high interest in technology development and policy, and following the latest trends
in technology and innovation
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Superior communication skills
• The acumen to build positive relationships between the Institute and external stakeholders
• Participation in technology or business plan competitions, or completed related classes is
preferred
