Postdoctoral Fellow - Tollkuhn Lab
The Tollkuhn Lab has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher to develop projects on hormonal regulation of gene expression in the brain.
The lab studies the transcriptional mechanisms of nuclear receptors in the context of brain development, behavior, and disease. Gonadal hormones such as estrogen and testosterone are the principal regulators of sex differences in the vertebrate brain, but the regulatory strategies used by hormone receptors in the brain remain largely unexplored. Our lab has recently published the first neural direct targets of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), and we now seek a colleague with expertise in gene regulation and the epigenome, who can expand on this line of research.
Environment
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned biomedical research institution in New York. It has shaped contemporary biomedical research and is the home of eight Nobel Prize laureates. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory provides a highly dynamic and interactive research environment and also a unique opportunity of timely exposure to advances in various biomedical research fields and of interaction with a broad range of researchers from all over the world through its renowned Meetings and Courses program.
We believe that science is for everyone. We have had researchers with a variety of backgrounds and believe in the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have completed, or be near completion of, a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Expertise in generating transcriptomic and epigenomic data is required, experience with data analysis (R/Python programming, data visualization) is preferred, an ability to learn these skills is essential. We believe that science is for everyone. Our laboratory offers a collaborative research environment, and we prioritize increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in science. Individuals from non-traditional and/or under-represented background are strongly encouraged to apply. More information can be found on our website here.
Interested candidates should e-mail their application to tollkuhn@cshl.edu as a single pdf file with subject: Postdoc Application. The application file should include: (1) CV with the publication list, (2) a brief description of research interests, (3) contact information for three references.
