
Academic Senate Student Assistant
Essential Job Function: Seeking student assistant to aid the Academic Senate Office. Office tasks will require proper phone etiquette while answering calls and taking messages, updating and maintaining committee binders, being trusted with office confidentiality, creating roll sheets for Senate meetings, troubleshooting printing projects such as name place cards, facilitating in meetings when needed, editing meeting audio and uploading to an accessible page, and a training course in Cascade for facilitating the upkeep of the Academic Senate’s website. Various other duties as assigned by the Office Manager and/or Academic Senate Chair will be asked of you. This will include setup of Academic Senate meetings (must be available Thursdays), general setup includes preparing refreshment trays and coffee, setup of the meeting room. (Currently, the Senate is not meeting in person however, this may change for the Spring 2023 semester.)
General Purpose: The Academic Senate is a deliberative body comprised of faculty, staff, administrators, and students that is guided by the principles of shared governance. Originally known as the Faculty Senate, the Academic Senate has existed on the CSU, Chico campus since 1955. Shared decision-making combined with collegiality among various university constituencies are essential for the success of the institution.
