Civil Engineer I
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Work with a team of Project managers, Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies, transportation drainage design, and several other water resources projects
· Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses to comply with FEMA guidelines and specifications
· Perform two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
· Efficiently work with ArcGIS software in support of floodplain modeling and mapping
· Prepare project reports including engineering calculations, research, planning and technical engineering reports
· Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
· Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
· Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
· Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design
Minimum Requirements
· Due to the nature of the project US Citizenship is required
· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Water Resources emphasis
· 0-3 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
· Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
· Ability to multi-task
· Masters degree in Water Resources Engineering or closely related field
· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
· Strong spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including technical report writing
· CAD skills
· Strong analytical and computation skills
· Knowledge of civil engineering design principles
· A mature sense of professional responsibility and awareness of accepted standards of professional behavior.
· Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
