Intern - Strategic Initiatives & Programming Intern

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution that was created by the US Congress to serve as America’s national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum seeks to educate Americans from all 50 states and all walks of life as well as international audiences. The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and education, and genocide prevention.

Information about the Office/Division:
The Spring 2023 Internship is an opportunity to learn about and contribute to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s work at the intersection of education and digital marketing communications. The Marketing Communications (MARCOM) Programming team supports the Museum’s goal to reach new audiences, to inspire critical thinking about the Holocaust, and to show how this history is relevant today.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing content for general audiences through social media, live digital programs and live in person programs
  • Conduct and analyze research, including locating archival photos, oral histories and other footage within the Museum’s Collection and from external sources such as Museums and media sources

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current student in Museum Studies, History and/or a Marketing/Communications discipline including Journalism, Advertising and/or Public Relations
  • Strong research and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in creating digital education and communication content
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter)

Requirements:

To be eligible to participate in the Internship Program, students must meet the three following enrollment criteria:
  • The student must be 18 years or older currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university
  • The student must have completed at least the first semester of their freshman year (At least at the time of application)
  • Provide proof of legal right to work in the United States
